Cookies and technologies currently used
Necessary security cookies
ChipTrace uses Cloudflare to improve website security, performance and reliability.
Cloudflare may place strictly necessary cookies when it needs to:
- Detect automated or abusive traffic
- Apply security rules
- Complete a browser security check
- Remember that a security check has been completed
- Protect the website and microchip search against misuse
These cookies are used for security and website operation. They are not used by ChipTrace for advertising or behavioural tracking.
Not every visitor will receive a Cloudflare security cookie. Whether one is placed depends on the security checks required during the visit.
Cookieless website analytics
ChipTrace uses Umami Analytics to understand how the website is used.
Umami may provide anonymous statistics such as:
- Which pages are visited
- How visitors reached the website
- The browser, operating system or device type used
- The general country of the visitor
- Website events, such as the use of important buttons
Umami does not place cookies through its tracking code. ChipTrace does not use Umami to identify individual visitors or track people across different websites.
External and affiliate links
ChipTrace links to microchip registries, government websites, manufacturers and other external services.
Some pages may also contain clearly identified affiliate or sponsored links.
An ordinary external link does not place an advertising cookie on the ChipTrace website. After you follow a link, the destination website may use its own cookies or similar technologies. Its own cookie and privacy policies will then apply.
Optional cookies
ChipTrace does not currently use optional advertising, behavioural tracking or cookie-based analytics technologies.
If this changes, we will update this statement. Where legally required, optional technologies will remain disabled until the visitor has made a valid choice through an appropriate consent tool.
